The Ballina Salmon Festival will be taking place again this year. The Ballina Festival has grown over the years to become one of the most popular festivals in the West of Ireland, attracting over 200,000 people to Ballina to enjoy the annual Salmon Festival in July which will run for ten days, kicking it off in style and talent with the ever popular lady of the Moy, and will finish on a high with the famous mardi gras and fireworks.
The Ballina Festival is very focused on Family Entertainment with over 30% of this years programme dedicated solely to children. Besides the usual events like the Teddy Bears Picnic and the Fancy Dress Disco the children can also expect to see Magic & Puppet Shows, Cheerleading Workshop, Swimming Lessons, Fishing by the Canal and a treasure hunt based around nature.

The Lady of the Moy will be celebrating its 17th birthday this year, the Lady of the Moy is still one of the most popular features of the festival. And the lucky winner will also be immediately entered into the Mayo Heat for Mayo Rose 2009.
The Heritage Day will take place on 15th of July this year, if you haven’t had the pleasure to visit Ballina for this event before, a brief description maybe necessary. The streets in the centre of the town are closed and traffic rerouted, the streets are transformed to bring you back to the way of life of years gone by. Entertainers are situated at each crossroads and craftsmen, potters, blacksmiths, weavers, farmers and artists display their skills and products. The Heritage Day in Ballina is a day not to miss.
